BUILDING THE FUTURE,
INSPIRED BY OUR PAST

Bellweather was founded in 2002 as a real estate development company. No longer inspired by the traditional general contracting models, we became early proponents of the design-build method. In 2009, we called on trade partners and creative colleagues to shift our focus to residential remodeling, working exclusively with homeowners. Since then, we have worked tirelessly to refine and align our unique process with the needs of our project stakeholders and clientele.

OUR HISTORY

After more than 20 years in West Philly, we relocated to a new 14,000sf headquarters in Allegheny West. The new space includes a collaborative open floor plan, a showroom for clients, and a large warehouse for our Production Team.

Our firm won its second “Best Places to Work” award by the Philadelphia Business Journal. The team was also recognized with awards from the Philadelphia 100 Forum, Qualified Remodeler, GuildQuality, and others for their distinctive designs, high-quality craftsmanship, and excellence in customer service.

We rolled out a new design service – the Initial Design & Exploration Agreement – which helps homeowners conceptualize and prioritize their ideas with a focus on feasibility and value engineering. It’s a small investment before the bigger commitment to full design.

We established our first Leadership Team (Will, Joey, Ryan, Geoff, and Melissa) and started to implement EOS. The EOS system helps businesses gain “traction” by setting a clear vision and instilling discipline and accountability. We completed our largest project ever this year, a testament to our growth as a business and a team.

Bellweather was awarded its first “Best Places to Work” award by the Philadelphia Business Journal. The award recognizes local employers that go above and beyond to cultivate an outstanding workplace culture by measuring success in team dynamics and trust in leadership.

After the initial pandemic lockdown, Bellweather continued to grow. We hired Geoff Saturley as Design & Development Manager, Seth Farnack as Senior Project Manager, and Emily DeMarco as Design-Build Sales Consultant.

We completed our first “block build” event with Rebuilding Together Philadelphia (RTP). RTP provides free home repairs to low-income homeowners in Philadelphia, with a focus on health, safety, and energy-efficiency. Will would later join RTP’s Board of Directors, and Brianna Chaklis would go on to win “Volunteer of the Year” in 2022.

Bellweather made its first push to increase staff capacity, adding Production Manager Ryan Stiffney as well as our first full-time Designer, Stephanie Hoffmeier. We grew our network, too, when Will and Joey joined the Remodelers Advantage roundtables. The roundtable offered valuable peer-to-peer feedback from other design-build businesses about our process, marketing, and customer service.

Bellweather established a separate design department and expanded its offerings for design services. We solidified our design-build process, which set the foundation for the process we use today.

The economy started to rebound from “The Great Recession.” Will earned his BPI certification while Joey, along with a team of full-time field mechanics, performed energy audits and energy-efficient repairs through the Keystone Energy-Efficiency Program (KEEP).

Bellweather unveiled its “new” logo. We moved our West Philadelphia headquarters from Baltimore Avenue to Woodland Avenue.

The housing bubble burst. With the real estate market in turmoil, Will and Joey pivoted from real estate development to residential remodeling, with a focus on serving Philadelphia homeowners.

Joey Willhite joined the team as Office & Real Estate Manager.

Will Giesey founded Bellweather Construction with a small storefront on Baltimore Avenue in West Philadelphia. He began purchasing and rehabilitating distressed properties in the neighborhood.

Core Values

Listening, collaboration, and trust are among our foundational values. We measure our success by not only client satisfaction with the finished product, but by client involvement in the process.

Collaboration

We think of the homeowners we work with as partners throughout the process. We take the time to get to know you and your home so that your final space feels uniquely ‘you’. Ongoing collaboration as a team leads to innovative solutions, better coordination, and ultimately a higher-quality end result for you.

Excellence

Excellence in quality design and craftsmanship is non-negotiable in everything we do. From the initial design concept to the final touches, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of quality. Our commitment ensures that every project we undertake is built to last and exceed expectations.

Transparency & Accountability

Transparency and accountability are the cornerstones of our business practices. We believe in open communication, honest budgeting and dealing, and taking responsibility for our actions. By operating with integrity, we build trust with our clients, partners, and stakeholders.

Humility

No egos here–only a sincere desire for the best outcome. We care from start to finish, treating our clients and their homes with the utmost respect. It’s not just because our field is competitive, but because we appreciate the trust it takes to undergo a home renovation.

Careers

Teamwork is our strength.

At Bellweather, our culture is rooted in kindness, mutual trust, and offering our best to one another. The respect among our teammates makes us great to work with, on-site or in the office.
